Wow almost one year, where does the time fly

So obviously I'm not good at blogging, but will hopefully soon get better. It's been a hard year this year, but now we are pleased to announce that we are pregnant and expecting our first child in January. Some of you may or may not know that we have been trying for a while now and had an ectopic pregnancy in January, so this is a huge blessing to us and it is our miracle baby. Please pray that everything goes well and baby is healthy! One of the other blessings is that my sister Kathy is due just 2 months before me so our babies will be approximately the same age!

Highlights of the last year:
Going on a cruise with Jimmy's side of the family- so fun!
Visiting Knoxville and Greenville this summer to see dear friends and family
Vacationing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with Jimmy's parents

Updates:
Jimmy is still working for Jack Henry as a software developer
Amy is working at Park Hill HIgh School as a school counselors
Nelly is as cute as she can be. She has calmed down quite a bit in the last year, but has her moments. She freaks out when people come to the door so we need to work on that.

PICTURES TO COME!

HELLO!!

Yes, it has been too long since I have last posted. This summer has been a whirlwind at the Reeves household. We have been busy with house projects such as tiling and painting. Also, the long summer I thought I would have a school counselor, quickly turned into a short 5 1/2 weeks! YUCK! We had 6 snow days that we had to make up at the end of the year and being a high school counselor, I have 2 weeks extra contract duty. I had a few great trips though. I went to Knoxville to see my beloved friends. I had such a great time and it was fun to catch up and stroll around the town. I was terribly sad that the Vols lost yesterday...I hope they can pull it together. I also went to Orlando for a conference for school. Finally, we went on my family vacation to the great town of Hayward, Wisconsin: Home of the world's largest Musky.

Jimmy and I were able to escape this Labor Day weekend to the Oregon Coast. If you have not been, you need to go!! It is beautiful. (Pictures to come later). We stayed at the Stephanie Inn on Cannon Beach and I was pampered with an hour long massage, great food, and a wonderful beach view. It was a much needed vacation for us.

Now back to the grind of work for both of us. It's amazing how fast time can fly being so busy. I truly miss being a student. If I could, I would be a full time college student the rest of my life. Unfortunately, the funds would not promote that extravagent lifestyle.

OH yes, I can't forget Nelly. She is as sweet as can be and as our Kirby guy described her...eccentric in every way. I wish you could meet her.

SPRING FEVER

So after a long winter, we have had a few beautiful days in Kansas. I remember the first real snowfall we had back in November, Jimmy was so excited like a kid to see the snow. Being from Texas and living in Knoxville, this is the furthest North he has lived. After 6 snow days, and a long, dreary winter, I can officially say that Jimmy no longer jumps for joy to see the snow! I sometimes wonder why we chose to move North because I forgot how awful winters can be. We are ready to turn off the heat and bring out the shorts...Anybody with me??? Overall, nothing really new is going on with us. Our puppy is getting huge..now weighs close to 40 lbs...pictures to come soon. She has brought to our lives both extreme joy and extreme annoyance at times, but we love her to death. We are still just getting used to our lives in Kansas City, trying to meet people and get plugged into the community.

Happy New Years

Superficially my new years started off great due to a fantastic Tennessee win in the outback bowl! GO VOLS! Overall, 2007 was a great year with many new changes for Jimmy and me. I look back and can't believe that just a year ago I was starting my last semester of graduate school and had no clue where I would be. Just one year later, I sit in Shawnee, KS in our first home, with our new puppy, and both of us with new jobs. 2007 was chalk full of changes...most of which were great, but obviously change comes with hard times as well. I feel as if I have adjusted to kansas city better than I thought, even though I still have many days in which I wonder what I was thinking leaving my comfortable life in Knoxville. But, in the long run, I think we made the best decision. Last night was a highlight for me as we spent new years with some of our new friends and it was so refreshing and so much fun. We had an absolute blast! I love meeting new people and I hope that we will continue to do so. Overall, 2007 was a great transition year for us...Hopefully we will feel a little more settled in 2008.

Our Baby

So as you can tell I haven't written in a while. We've had our hands full with our new puppy. She is the sweetest dog, but she also has her crazy moments. She is learning very quickly.

1. She is very smart and has already caught on to going potty outside...with the exception of a few accidents, which are usually our fault.
2. She started off crying at night, but after a couple of days she was making it through the night.
3. In the past week, she's mastered going up stairs and is working on going down them.
4. She is learning the meaning of no
5. She is already starting to catch onto the game of fetch.

She's obviously kept us very busy. We are learning quickly of how much she relies on us. I guess this is a great experience for when we plan to have kids. The biggest thing it has taught me is that I realized how selfish I am with my time. I now can't just go do whatever after school, but now I come home to make sure Nelly gets outside and gets playtime. We definitely are spending more time at home so that Nelly is not in the kennel all of the time. I think our biggest challenge about Nelly now is her loving to bite. She is so playful and gets excited, and usually ends up getting out of control. If ya'll have any ideas about how to redirect her attention besides yelling ouch and giving her another toy to play with.

Please enjoy the pictures....

MEET NELLY!

Nelly is the newest addition to the Reeves family. She is so sweet and the runt of the litterWe had the choice between her and her brother. It was a difficult decision, but in the long run we were both drawn to her and feel that she will be a sweet addition to our home. Her birthday is October 1, 2007 and I think we've decided that her full name will be Nelly Reinhold Reeves-to keep the Reinhold name going. We get to pick her up next weekend and we are both soooooooooo excited, but at the same time nervous about raising a pup. We are spending this week to buy Nelly some things and to read up on the best ways of training her. We can't wait for you to meet her!
